Dr. Mohamed Dessouky

Dr. Mohamed Dessouky was on the faculty of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for 22 years before joining Northern Illinois University as Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering. Currently, he is a Research Professor at Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, University of Southern California. Since 1998, Dr. Dessouky has been serving as Editor-in-Chief of Computers & Industrial Engineering. He has consulted for many companies and organizations including Western Electric, Kalkan Foods, Andrew Corporation, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (Vienna, Austria). He has also given seminars and engaged in consulting projects in several countries including Egypt, Sudan, Brazil, Turkey, Kuwait, Indonesia, Japan, and China. His research interests include scheduling, network analysis, and project management. He has published many refereed articles in these areas.

Dr. Yasser Dessouky

Dr. Yasser Dessouky is Professor and Chair of Industrial and Systems Engineering at San Jose State University. He has extensive research and consulting experience in developing models to analyze improvements in the design and efficiency of systems and work flow patterns. He has gained recognition in the areas of simulation modeling and analysis, statistical and quality analysis and management, including lean six sigma and integrated supply chain management applied to wide range of domain areas. He serves as Associate Editor for Computers and Industrial Engineering, and as an editorial board member on several other prestigious international journals. His professional practice includes work with organizations such as Applied Materials, Texas Instruments, General Electric, Ford Motor Company, TRW Inc., United Parcel Service and Desert Samaritan Hospital, and research funding from NSF, VA, and Caltran agencies. Prior to joining the faculty at San José State University in 1997, Dr. Dessouky served on the faculty at Miami University, Ohio.

Founding Editor

Dr. Hamed K. Eldin

The late Dr. Eldin's career involved teaching at Cairo University, the National Institute of Management Development in Cairo (Now Sadat Academy), of which he was a founding member, Oklahoma State University, Boston University (International Programs), and the American University in Cairo, where he established an industrial engineering program. He also worked at Mobiloil Corporation in both Cairo and New York, and at Esso Oil Company in Cairo. 

Dr. Eldin passed away in 1997, after the successful completion of the 22nd International Conference on Computers and Industrial Engineering in Cairo, Egypt. His crowning achievement was the establishment of this international journal, Computers and Industrial Engineering, which he started in 1976, and selflessly devoted his boundless energy to its growth until it became one of the most successful journals in the field.
